HELLO,

I am here to make technology an integral part of education

I am the media director for ROWVA CUSD #208 in Oneida, Illinois. I am the tech "mom" - you know - figure out a way to make it work even when it doesn't look good - Level 2 Google Educator. I recently completed my Masters in Education in Digital Learning and Leading from Lamar University. Technology amazes me! I hope to never stop learning!

My Why!

I didn't like my last evaluation. I knew I did more than what the administration saw, my job list is x and ALL other things not listed. I found myself negative and feeling cranky. Then, I started reading the positive mindset books and I realized that only I can change those views. I need show what I can do and if they don't see it- I know what I have done or can do.
And frankly why I was I there? I was there for the kids if the kids grew from what I could show them - That's what really mattered. So with my new growth mindset- it became clear to me - why and for whom do I do my job. I put on my "positive pants" and I am happier. I am looking at every new tweet, devise, software and book and I think how can this help make my students Independent Lifelong Learners!

"The best thing about being a teacher is that it matters. The hardest thing about being a teacher is that it matters every day." Todd Whitaker

The most "wild" idea that I have for technology integration is getting my staff on board and comfortable while using it.

Everyone should be part of something great.

So many of our students do great things and it isn't always for a grade or a trophy or recognition. This year at our open house - I gathered these "great things". I typed them out and hung in the hallway for all to see. "Did you know Kacey C. marched in Washington for her caus?. Did you know Chloie won the YMCA good person award for April?" We put up accomplishments for half of our students - elementary, Jr high and high school. The students and public loved seeing the things that were not grades related but life-related. Great feedback!

I regard these Did You Know Items as a work in the COVA model. The students were recognized for their accomplishment for doing "their thing"!
